Building upwards during ongoing operations
Gebrüder Schmid GmbH & Co., Freudenstadt

Freudenstadt, May 2011

Wochner is currently expanding the production facilities at the headquarters of Gebrüder Schmid GmbH & Co. - a global leader in system and process solutions for printed circuit technology and photovoltaic applications - at Freudenstadt.

Two further storeys are being added to the production premises and basement built by WOCHNER just two years ago. The project is extremely ambitious and elaborate from a construction point of view, since the storeys have to be added without interrupting production on the existing floors. In addition, the tight schedule - just a few weeks until the handover - is a big challenge for WOCHNER and all involved partners.

The project requires extremely precise site and trade coordination in order to ensure that the production activities of Gebr. Schmid Gmbh & Co. can continue.
In addition to the building, a striking feature of the construction site is the 500-ton mobile crane from MSG, Kehl, which is being used for the erection process.

WOCHNER wall heating

A wall heating system is the perfect complement to a solid WOCHNER house, since it enhances the advantages of this construction system through the addition of heating technology. An optimally insulated building shell, no interior plaster, and solid clay components contribute to the perfect usage of wall heating. WOCHNER wall heating replaces the radiators that are typically used. Looped copper pipes are built into the clay wall elements at the factory. The location of the wall heating surfaces is decided with the customer on a case-by-case basis.
